Route

Stage 1: 'Merica

We leave to bike scross the U.S. in June after Brant's Graduation. Brant and his brother Reid are biking from Northern California to Denver, Colorado, in ten days to make it on time to a dear old friend's wedding. Papa Haflich and Lauren will meet the boys for the wedding and the first leg of our trip.

California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Illinios, Indiana, Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, District of Columbia, Virginia, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine.

  Stage 2: South East Asia

In Fall we shall pack our bikes and fly from Boston to Bangkok. We want to pedal north through Thailand towards Laos. Our route through South East Asia is not set in stone because we want to orient our route around aid projects and learning experiences. As we continue to talk with different organizations this will become more concrete.

Things we want to do: WWOOF, volunteer with water sanitation/education projects, and attend a permaculture course with the Panya Project in Chang Mai.

  1. While you're in Denver you should talk to Water For People. They're a well respected water/sanitation organization that works around the world. If I'm in Boulder when you come by, I'd be interested in biking to Fort Collins with you... and I'm sure Chris would as well.

  2. Also talk to Lifewater in SLO! They have projects in Laos/Cambodia last I checked!
